The Montour Run Watershed encompasses 37 square miles with six large tributaries flowing into Montour Run.
Located in western Allegheny County, Montour Run Watershed starts near Pittsburgh International Airport and flows west for 13 miles where it meets the Ohio River in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. Everyone lives in a watershed, or an area of land that drains to a common point, like a stream.
Many streams are damaged by pollutants from stormwater runoff, erosion, sediment and abandoned mine drainage. This watershed plan is to be used to strategically identify areas to protect, restore and preserve the Montour Run Watershed.
