Grant Award: | $200,000 |
Location: | Jacktown Road, Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania |
Collaborators: | ACCD, Elizabeth Township, Allegheny County Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund |
Program: | Dirt, Gravel & Low Volume Roads |
Elizabeth Township was awarded $200,000 through the Low Volume Road Grant Program by ACCD, in combination with funds from the Allegheny County Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund, to address critical infrastructure needs. The project focused on repairing two significant landslides and installing essential drainage features on a roadway that had been closed for years due to severe erosion.
The restoration of this roadway not only reopened access for dozens of residents but also provided long-term environmental benefits. By implementing effective erosion control measures, the project significantly reduced sediment deposition into a tributary of Wylie Run, helping to protect local water quality. In conjunction with the landslide repairs, Elizabeth Township Public Works also paved and widened the road and installed stormwater management systems, ensuring the roadway's durability for many years to come.
This project highlights the successful collaboration between local funding sources and public works, delivering lasting improvements to both community infrastructure and environmental health.
ACCD provides technical assistance to improve water and soil resources throughout the region.
